Course Structure and Input
The courses run from 9.00am on Saturday to 5.15pm on Sunday. That's two days of practical advice and essential guidance about
being a confident classroom TEFL teacher.
You'll have all these sessions:
• Introduction to Teaching English - You'll get to grips with some of the basic terms and concepts of English grammar
• Reading Lessons - You'll learn how to use different sorts of texts in a reading lesson, and how to make reading easier and more enjoyable
• Teaching Vocabulary - English has a huge vocabulary, and our session gives you practical ideas for helping students learn effectively.
• Speaking Activities - You'll find out how to give your students the fluency practice they need with activities they find interesting and useful. You'll also discover the secrets of the effective use of pair and groupwork.
• Phonology - Discover how to help students improve their accent so they sound more natural and more confident in English. A very important skill indeed!
• Published and Authentic Materials - We'll show you some of the best TEFL books on the market - including the ones we have written!
• Teaching Grammar - Grammar is easy when you have the right materials and use the right methods. This session will show you how.
• Visual Aids, Games and Warmers - Find out how to start a lesson with a bang, as well as useful ideas for developing students' interaction and confidence in English.
• Writing Lessons - We'll show you how to make writing fun and interesting for learners of all ages and abilities.
• Listening Lessons -You'll learn how to structure a listening lesson using songs, interviews and more.
• Lesson Planning - What goes into a good lesson? We'll show you in this session.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need an 'Intro' for a job ?
A: No - but added confidence and ability will help you find a better job, perhaps with better pay. On completion of the course,
we will give you a detailed certificate which can be used in support of a TEFL job application. We also include a session offering practical
advice about how to get a job teaching English without a formal TEFL qualification.
Q: How practical is the course?
A: Very, you will work through the kind of activities students themselves do and learn through hands-on,
practical tasks. Remember - You also observe our TEFL teachers in action by coming in for the FREE extra day on the Friday
before the weekend course.
Q: What can I do after the course?
A: Previous participants have managed to find EFL teaching work in countries as varied as the UK, Japan, Germany, Latin America,
Tibet and Spain. Quite a few people decide to go on to our Trinity Certificate in TESOL courses as a result
Q: Do I need an 'Intro' to get on a Certificate course?
A: No, but you will find the experience of an intro course will be invaluable. In particular, your familiarity with much of
the essential TEFL terminology and basic classroom skills will give you a huge advantage. On our courses there is an additional
benefit: namely priority booking for our Certificate courses.
Q: What happens if I want to do the course, but the dates don't suit me?
A: If you can't make the course you want or if we have to cancel a course, you are very welcome to attend the school to shadow
one or more of our teachers at a special rate of just £25.00 per day or part day. This involves observing our fully qualified TEFL
teachers in the classroom, and gives you really useful insights into the different elements of successful EFL classroom teaching.
Q: I don't live in Bristol. Can you help me with accommodation?
A: Of course, we have about 50 host families in Bristol and can easily arrange half-board accommodation for the Friday and Saturday nights. Contact us for details.
