The Aims of Our Refresher Course
We want your course to combine the best of both worlds - a chance to brush up your English, discover some new methods and materials for your classes, and have a memorable holiday.
The main aims are:

The Content Of The Course
The course is practical, informative and fun.
Theory is kept to a minimum - and is always demonstrated in practice
You will have sessions on:
• Activity types in communicative classes
• working with different learning preferences
• using games and warmers to promote group dynamics
• the difference between idioms and idiomatic language
• evaluating the latest ELT materials
• ways of promoting independent learning
• effective group and pairwork
• aspects of contemporary life and culture
• exploiting newspapers, magazines and other authentic materials
• creative grammar activities that really work
• using dictionaries as a resource, not a reference
• reflective practice for pedagogical awareness
• effective phonology - intonation and chunking language
• vocabulary activities that promote fluency
• exploiting classroom projects
• 65 different types of homework you can give
• personalising learning tips
• getting more from your coursebooks

You'll also learn more about designing and exploiting posters in class
And work with using recordings in class for added motivation
And explore different ways of using video in your classes

Practical Details
The course lasts for two weeks
Each week will give you a minimum of 21 hours of classroom tuition. You also have an optional 6 hours in our Study Room with practical work to do.
Input includes practical activities, seminars, discussions, observations of our expert teachers, pairworks, role-plays, mini-presentations, a variety of tasks and more...
The activities are designed to be equally useful to Primary and Secondary teachers - and they are also good for your Engish!
There is a maximum of 15 participants per course.
During the course you have full use of our facilities, including:
• Our extensive teachers’ library
• The video library with over 350 titles
• The Computer Room with free internet and e-mail
• The Study Room, with over 10,000 hours of interesting materials
•The Students’ Coffee Room
In addition, a full social programme is included in the price
This will help you discover the city and its resources with visits and excursions.
On Saturdays, we have a full-day trip to a local place of interest.

Accommodation
Accommodation for the Refresher Course is as follows:
Self-catering accommodation in Manor Hall residence (£230.00 per week)
Manor Hall is located in the beautiful Georgian area of Clifton. It is superbly located near many Bristol landmarks
such as the Cabot Tower and the Georgian House.
The area is full of cafes and restaurants and so is perfect for everything you might need. The centre of the city is
15 minutes on foot and a similar distance from the school.
The price includes a single room and communal bathroom. There are communal kitchen areas where you can cook your own food.
