Where Exactly Is Bristol?
Bristol is
about 200 km west of London. It is at the junction of three major motorways, the M4, the M32 and the M5, which means that coach and car journeys to the city are relatively easy, wherever you are coming from. It is also near the Severn road bridge, making it less than an hour's
drive from Cardiff, the Welsh capital.
Bristol also has two mainline train stations and a bus station where National Express buses arrive and leave for destinations
all over the UK. For many students bus is a cheaper option than train travel especially if you have an international
students' identity card.
Bristol International Airport is just a short distance away and has regular flights by all the major airlines so you should be
able to fly here direct, if you want to.
Getting To Bristol By Train
There are two mainline train stations in Bristol, Temple Meads in the city centre and Parkway near Filton. Both stations are served
by trains from various transport companies
including First Great Western
and Virgin Trains.
A train from London can take as little as 90 minutes from Paddington mainline station. It is also possible to get trains to Bristol
from Waterloo.
Getting To Bristol By Bus
The National Express bus company have buses going all over the country from Bristol Marlborough Street bus station. Tickets
to London can cost as little as £1 if you go at certain times. Generally, they cost more than this but bus tickets are always cheaper
than a train ticket to the same destination.
In late 2005 and early 2006, the bus company is doing some rebuilding work on the Marlborough Street station. For more information about where
you can find buses during this time, visit this page.

Airport. The other airport at Filton is for non-commercial flights.

the busiest airport in the West of England.
