Where Exactly Is Bristol?

Click to see a bigger mapBristol is about 200 km west of London. It is at the junction of three major motorways, the M4, the M32 and the M5, which means that coach and car journeys to the city are relatively easy, wherever you are coming from. It is also near the Severn road bridge, making it less than an hour's drive from Cardiff, the Welsh capital.

Bristol also has two mainline train stations and a bus station where National Express buses arrive and leave for destinations all over the UK. For many students bus is a cheaper option than train travel especially if you have an international students' identity card.

Bristol International Airport is just a short distance away and has regular flights by all the major airlines so you should be able to fly here direct, if you want to.

Getting To Bristol By Train

There are two mainline train stations in Bristol, Temple Meads in the city centre and Parkway near Filton. Both stations are served by trains from various transport companies including First Great Western and Virgin Trains.

A train from London can take as little as 90 minutes from Paddington mainline station. It is also possible to get trains to Bristol from Waterloo.

Getting To Bristol By Bus
